Description

Position Summary: The Operations Supervisor III is responsible for the operation and supervision of the Liquid Waste Acceptance (LWA) program and personnel.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements: Must be self-motivated and goal oriented. Must have effective presentation skills, creativity, deductive reasoning, and excellent people skills. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be computer literate and able to use various office database, spreadsheet, and word processing computer programs. Must be able to prepare concise and accurate reports with conclusions and recommendations. Must understand the laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the treatment and disposal of wastewater and biosolids and be knowledgeable of the principles and methods used in the treatment and disposal of wastewater and biosolids. Must have knowledge of the governmental regulations pertaining to wastewater and biosolids treatment, hauling and disposal. Must be knowledgeable of the occupational hazards and safety precautions exercised in the treatment of wastewater and biosolids. Must be able to supervise both the day-to-day activities of LWA field personnel, holding them accountable for meeting performance expectations, as well as other activities dealing with wastewater and biosolids treatment and disposal.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required. Satisfactory completion of both the Basic and Advanced Wastewater Treatment courses are required. Completion of the Advanced Wastewater Collections course preferred.

Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in wastewater treatment and industrial inspection is required.

License and/or Certifications(s): A valid New Jersey Driver's License is required.

Physical Demands: To perform the essential function of this position the employee must be able to: sit, stand, walk, stoop, climb, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs., carry, reach, push, pull, use a keyboard, minor use of tools, manual dexterity, work in confined spaces, visual acuity, hearing and speaking. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into and work in confined spaces while wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks as well as Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).

Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
