Posting Summary | Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for NJMS-PHRI CENTER. This position conducts research in the field of tuberculosis in Dr. Shi's laboratory.Among the key duties of this position are the following: - Examines the role of metabolic pathways of host immune cells in mediating immune function in tuberculosis using in vitro and in vivo mouse models
- Performs experiments that include genetic, biochemical, cellular and molecular approaches, as well as metabolomics, epigenetics and high throughput sequencing and bioinformatics
- Keeps up-to-date with technical and theoretical knowledge related to the projects.
- Generates, compiles and presents experimental data with appropriate conclusions, recommendations, etc. pertinent to research activity.
- Presents scientific/research contents in institutional, national and international forums.
- Contributes to writing of IACUC and IBC applications and grants to respective agencies.

- Training in molecular and Cellular biology, biochemistry, infectious disease, high-throughput sequencing, epigenetics and bioinformatics
- Experience working with Mycobacterium tuberculosis using primary cells and in vivo mouse models is an asset.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications | - The ideal candidate should possess knowledge and expertise in the manipulation of infectious agents, the application of ELISA, the utilization of multi-color FACS analysis, the implementation of molecular cloning techniques, the execution of real-time PCR analysis, the utilization of RNA-FISH, the conduction of Western blot experiments, the implementation of immunofluorescent microscopy procedures, the execution of high throughput sequencing, metabolomics, epigenetics and the utilization of bioinformatics tools.
- Proficiency in Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) and Animal Biosafety Level 3 (ABSL3) is of utmost importance for the successful execution of in vitro and in vivo models of infection involving mycobacteria.
- Additionally, the candidate is required to possess exceptional communication and writing skills.
