Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the School of Social Work. This position provides administrative support to the School of Social Work Office on the Newark Campus.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides specialized administrative duties requiring the use of judgment in making decisions Provides exceptional support and customer service to students, faculty, and staff at the Rutgers School of Social Work.
  • Performs independent, confidential, professional work that requires extensive in-depth knowledge of the School of Social Work, the Master of Social Work Program and Field Program, Rutgers University, and the School of Social Work's practices and procedures.
  • Ensures accuracy while handling student records when handling student data, (both paper and electronic).
  • Assesses and prioritizes the immediate needs of all stakeholders with patience, confidentiality, and good judgment ensuring the right answer or point of contact is provided.
  • Supports the daily functions of the office with an emphasis on communication, organization, record keeping and analysis, attention to detail, handling multiple projects, working independently and within a team, confidentiality, and a thorough knowledge of the School of Social Work.

Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field.
  • Two years relevant experience, preferably in a Higher Education setting.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Individual should be highly motivated, with strong attention to detail and have the ability to handle considerable and varied responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team is a must.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience using software tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong writing skills sufficient to draft correspondence that is clear and concise.
  • The ability to exercise good judgment, discretion and to make decisions independently.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks, responding flexibly and positively in all circumstances.
  • The ability to interact and work effectively with a broad range of people, including but not limited to, Faculty, Staff, Students, Administrators, and any additional key points of contact.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work.
  • Experience in Higher Education and/or knowledge of the Rutgers University environment and administrative structure.
  • A strong understanding of University processes and procedures for departments such as: Rutgers University in Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick such as the Graduate Registrar, Graduate Admissions, Creative Services, Dining Services, Student Centers, Financial Aid, Student Accounting, and Health Services.
  • Experience with Scholarchip, Canvas, Grad Portal, IMS and certain University Financial applications (Expense Management and Marketplace) in Cornerstone.
  • Advanced knowledge of the graduate admission process, the graduate registrar's registration processes and procedures which includes graduation requirements in order to identify and create our new and continuing student databases with accuracy.
Equipment Utilized
  • The position requires the regular use of a Windows computer and expertise with the following software: Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
  • Ability to work with database systems and any technology needed to support the role, hybrid work, and virtual event attendance and management.
