Northern Wings Material Control & Customer Fulfilment Process: Receiving Clerk, Shipping Clerk in Newberry, Michigan

PURPOSE:

The Material Control position is a hands-on receiving inspection, shipping inspection and packaging position.

Control the receiving and inspection of incoming material for resale or internal use.

Control the shipment of products/material to the customer.

Control of material and stock within the facility/warehouse

JOB DUTIES:

General:

  1. Ensure compliance with relevant Procedures as defined by the Northern Wings Procedures Manual, Process Description 03 (PD-03), the Material Control & Customer Fulfilment Process (MC&CFP).

  2. Understand and apply ISO9000/AS9100 quality standards in accordance with Quality Manual and Procedures.

  3. Operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist materials within and around facility.

  4. Ensure that all transactions are properly recorded in company database (Quantum).

  5. Be proficient in application of those operations in Quantum that apply to the Material Control and Customer Fulfilment Process/Procedures.

  6. Package, label, tag or otherwise identify and segregate inventory.

  7. Maintain security and integrity of inventory.

  8. Maintain inventory of shipping materials as well as supplies.

Receiving Clerk:

  1. Verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against Northern Wings purchase order, bills of lading and pack slips.

  2. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

  3. Receive and unload freight both manually or with equipment such as a forklift

  4. Performs a receiving inspection in accordance with company procedures.

  5. Identify shipping information on cartons.

  6. Receives packages from drivers and contracted shippers, verify and record daily package count.

  7. Screen packages for hazmat.

  8. Sort packages for priority shipping.

  9. Work with shipping expeditor to resolve issues for packages that fail incoming inspection.

Shipping Clerk:

  1. Verifies and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against the sales order/customer purchase order.

  2. Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates and customer specifications.

  3. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.

  4. Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.

  5. Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape, using strapping machine.

  6. Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.

  7. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.

  8. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet customer quality specifications.

· Must be able to drive a fork lift

· Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.
