About this Opportunity:
The Planning Intern will act as a crucial member of our supply chain team. This position is an excellent and challenging position for students who are interested in gaining planning, procurement, business and manufacturing knowledge. Guidance and mentorship will be provided to individuals in this position.
Preferred Skills:
Basic knowledge of production planning fundamentals, scheduling, materials requirements planning techniques and manufacturing control systems
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel
Knowledge of basic computer applications and the ability to learn and use multiple applications specific to this department including the ERP and office systems
Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers
Demonstrates accountability in role by prioritizing tasks and problem solving independently to ensure timely and accurate completion of responsibilities
Activities:
Matches material requirements and inventory turnover so as not to hold too high of a percentage of inventory
Manages surplus, excess and obsolete inventory and prepare inventory reports
Assists in the resolution of receipt and supplier invoice discrepancies
Reviews manufacturing production goals and plans accordingly
Analyzes inputs including capacity, cycle times, urgency of request, and material availability to help determine schedule
Acts as external customer liaison with new product introduction
Physical Demands:
Regular visits to the manufacturing floor requiring the use of PPE (provided by Celestica).
Duties of this position are primarily performed in a normal office environment.
Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.

Education: Currently enrolled in an Internship program completing 3rd year of a 4-year University program or 2nd year of 3-year Diploma program specializing in Supply Chain, Operations, Business or Engineering.
