Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and certified Medical Assistant to join our family practice. This role involves providing essential support to our healthcare providers, ensuring smooth patient intake and management. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive environment with no weekend or night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient intake, including medical history documentation in the electronic health record.

  • Conduct patient triage, including vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, and weight.

  • Maintain temperature logs, QA processes, and adhere to OSHA policies.

  • Ensure accurate performance of EKGs.

  • Complete pharmaceutical prior authorizations.

  • Manage phone triage and communicate with pharmacies for patient medication refills.

  • Perform Medicare Annual Wellness Visits.

  • Set up, clean, and stock exam rooms.

  • Input patient lab and radiology orders electronically.

Essential Skills

  • Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification or registration is required.

  • Experience with triage and intake of patients to exam rooms is preferred.

  • Ideal candidate will have at least 6 months to 1 year of experience, but recent graduates with certification will also be considered.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Nextgen EMR is a significant advantage.

Work Environment

This family medicine facility is located in Newport News, Virginia. The shift is from 7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break. The patient volume is approximately 70-85 patients per day across 3 providers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $19.00
