Job Description

Join HII and Mission Technologies where our team works in the only shipyard to execute the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The mid-life of RCOH includes refueling of nuclear reactors, overhauling most machinery, and modernizing warfare systems to ensure the Navy's aircraft carriers incorporate improved capabilities needed for success in the remaining 25 years of service. We are seeking a Master Tradesperson 2 (Mid-level electrician) to join our growing team. The selected candidate will be supporting RCOH Elevator Support Unit (ESU) by working on electrical systems to assist with refit and fleet modernization of Hangar Bay Divisional Doors and Deck Edge Elevator Doors. Your accomplishments will make a positive impact supporting the U.S. Navy and America’s national defense!

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Support trades team by working on active class surface ships to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization.

  • Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on shipboard systems, integrated systems, and related equipment/software onboard Aircraft Carriers.

  • Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time.

  • Learn and apply production processes toward completion of assignments.

  • Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma, or Trade School or equivalent, and 2 years of electrical experience.

  • Must be able to read and use precision tools.

  • Must be able to follow safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.

  • Must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.

  • Must be able to provide hand tools per trade designation.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Requirements

  • Candidates who have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school, apprenticeship program or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.

  • Candidates with a current or active DoD clearance preferred.

  • OSHA 10 Maritime Certification

  • NAVSEA Cableway Improvement certification

  • Muli-Pin Connector experience

  • Knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator.
