Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist residents with activities of daily living including dressing, dental and mouth care, facial hair removal, eyewear and hearing devices, toileting and bathing as needed.
Routinely conducts resident checks in accordance with nursing procedures. Maintains privacy by knocking before entering a resident’s room. Assists with resident requests and provides a comfortable and safe environment.
Notifies residents of meal times and/or assists residents to the proper dining locations, serves meals to residents, and assists with feeding and cleanup of residents as appropriate.
Assists with routine clean-up of residents living area and personal products including making/changing beds, laundering clothing, labeling resident belongings, and properly treating/disposal of soiled linens and other items.
Observes and reports changes in resident condition including coginitive/emotional status.
Notifies the charge nurse and/or supervisor prior to leaving the area for any reason, including end of the shift.
Escorts residents and coordinates transportation needs.
Participates in and provides support during resident-centered activities.
With medication manager certification, will assist with administration of medication, including monitoring medication supplies and documentation.
Answers all resident calls promptly and courteously and responds appropriately. Answer departmental phones as assigned to ensure prompt service to the callers. Refers all visitor/family inquiries about resident conditions to a nurse
Performs all safety procedures as required by the OSHA, standards and internal safety and nursing standards, such as using the proper protective equipment, utilizing and operating all equipment/devices safely, reporting occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals. Practices proper hand washing techniques routinely.
Must be knowledgeable and able to carry out the proper emergency plans. Must promptly report any incidents of resident verbal/physical abuse to the supervisor.
Maintains state/federal and corporate training requirements.
Maintains the confidentiality of the resident by not discussing his/her care plans, personal data, conversations, daily habits, etc. with anyone other than the supervisor.
Ensures that all residents are provided a comfortable, stress-free environment by not engaging the residents in employee’s personal or work-related problems.
Promotes a team environment by routinely assisting other staff as needed in completing their care plans, conducting lifts/transfers, and assisting with meals. Encourages a positive work atmosphere by exercising courtesy, respect, and cooperation with team members.
May perform other duties as needed, but not limited to stocking shelves, taking supply inventories, practicing economy in the use materials and utilities, participating in orientations and mentoring programs, etc.
Completes other duties and assists with special projects as assigned or requested.
