We're seeking a motivated design enthusiast who wants to contribute to a growing UX practice in an ever-evolving user-centered digital environment. You’ll need to be a fast learner, forever curious, love a challenge and be results oriented.

The Sr. UX Designer role plays an essential role in the strategy, conception and the design of ideas, products and services. Your work is grounded in research insights and activities such as competitive analysis, heuristic reviews and usability testing. You are responsible for creating user-centered experiences to support consumer-facing digital touch points (including but not limited to online, mobile, tablet, apps, and experiences/solutions) . 


Through a deep understanding of user-centered design principles and digital best practices, this role will effectively communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. As part of a cross-discipline team, the Sr. UX Designer role will provide a voice for customers within the Sallie Mae team.

Work you'll do

The Sr. UX Designer will support front-end design of modernized screens for authenticated and non-authenticated user website experience. You will work as part of cross-functional team of studio/UX, visual design, copy/content and developers. Interested in participating in workshops and user testing groups. Developing concepts supported by research, A/B testing, then producing quality wireframes, prototypes, user flows and annotations with high attention to detail.

Customer-centric solutions for digital experiences

  • Using research to find the opportunities to improve customer/consumer experience

  • Able to complete baseline testing, heuristic evaluations, industry competitive analysis, voice of consumer (VOC) deep dives, design sprints, etc.

  • Ability to support stakeholder interviews, deep dive analytics, participate in business walkthroughs, etc.

  • Through an iterative process of designing and gaining feedback (from customers, developers, and stakeholders), creates design artifacts (sketches, wireframes, user flows, prototypes, final design [components and/or templates] etc) that serve the goal of communicating with your team members.

  • Visual design chops are a must, as they help convey the overall UX experience

Internal Team Standards & Processes

  • Contributes to internal team standards and processes: design system/library, prototyping toolkits, templates, process development, team metrics

  • Advocates for the customer experience within a multi-functional team, including development, product owners and business stakeholders. Communicates regularly with external partners, creative teams, and leadership.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience

  • 5+ years of experience in user experience design, interaction design, UI design, and/or digital design.

  • A passion for visual design and managing/growing library systems within figma.

  • Portfolio full of beautiful, usable things on all kinds of devices

  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong collaborative and people skills – across discipline, role, department, and leadership level.

  • Growth mindset – broaden ones understanding (tools, usability, Agile, Customer Experience, related development skills, content strategy, eCommerce, Omni channel Retail, etc.).

  • Self-starter who takes full ownership of their work, all the way through the process.

  • Delivers work on time with a high attention to detail.

  • Extremely Proficient in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, etc

  • Experience understanding/annotating complex interactions

  • Strong foundation of design sensibilities and designing forAccessibility Standards

  • Ability to mentor Interns on process, growth and development

  • Unafraid to try new things and learn along the way
