Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Tax Sr. - Corporate in Newton, Massachusetts. This individual is responsible for utilizing research skills, applying tax foundational knowledge to understand potential tax issues, gathering client information necessary for filing, participating in tax planning, recognizing, and communicating potential risks, preparing tax workpapers and working with tax software applications to complete tax returns for review. In this role, the Tax Senior Associate will act as the main client contact for general questions and information and may be charged with supervising and reviewing the work of Tax Associates.
-Gathers necessary data and information to prepare federal, state and local tax returns for operating partnerships and s-corporations, as well as the personal tax returns of the respective business owners
Conducts research and compliance analysis relating to various state and/or local tax reporting requirements
Gathers required information, and drafts communications to respond to notices from tax authorities
Prepares tax returns using CCH Access
Prepares tax projections to quantify quarterly estimates and extensions
Analyzes state tax positions to determine tax efficiencies for owner composite/PTE tax elections
Suggests tax minimization actions based on the partner’s personal facts and circumstances
Assists in tracking tax return filing and payment due dates to ensure compliance
Supervisory Responsibilities:
May supervise and manage the day-to-day work assignments
Provides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and interns
Acts as a mentor and leader
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or other related field, required
Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or other related field, preferred
Experience
Two (2) or more years of experience in tax preparation
Experience preparing tax returns for partnerships and/or s-corporations, as well as individuals/trusts
License(s)/Certification(s)
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), preferred but not required
Software
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, Excel and Word, required
Prior experience utilizing CCH Access or other tax preparation software, required
