Job Title: Quality Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Quality Engineering Technician will develop, write, program, and debug CMM programs using Cameo and CheckMate Solidworks based on engineering drawings and specifications. Responsibilities include checking dimensions against blueprints for automated production, measuring precise glass dimensions, and programming scripts and tests within metrology software. Understanding customer specifications and processing conditions is crucial to ensure product quality. The role involves documentation tasks such as quality procedures, audits, log sheets, and SAP entries, as well as supporting internal audits, including IATF. The technician will manage quality control processes or the delivery of nonconforming products until issues are resolved.

This long-term contract position renews annually, working 24-32 hours per week. The contract exists because the company charges the work done in this role back to their customers.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze data to verify part compliance with specified tolerances and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to resolve quality issues and improve processes.

  • Participate in design review of prints.

  • Maintain accurate inspection records, including detailed measurement reports and non-conformance documentation.

  • Prepare and present inspection results and quality reports to management and relevant stakeholders.

  • Conduct incoming material, first article, in-process, and final inspections.

  • Direct involvement with Customer Specific Requirements, including operating within control limits/customer specifications, using hand tools when needed.

  • Evaluate, determine, and implement other measurement systems to meet company and customer requirements.

  • Conduct MSA’s on new/current measuring equipment, ensuring entry into the calibration database.

  • Identify unsafe acts and follow up on actions until resolved.

  • Perform dimensional inspections of parts and components.

  • Mount, install, test, and calibrate tools, attachments, fixtures, and overall CMM.

  • Stay updated with CMM technology and metrology software advancements.

  • Provide training and support on CMM operation and programming.

  • Ensure alignment with IATF needs.

  • Take an active interest in cleanliness and organization, looking for process improvements.

  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of CMM equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve CMM equipment and software issues.

  • Coordinate with external service providers for equipment calibration and maintenance as needed.

Hard Skills

  • Associate’s degree

  • CMM experience - programming (Cameo, Solidworks, Checkmate software)

  • Metrology experience (SPC, GD&T, blueprint reading)

  • IATF16949 knowledge (automotive)

This is a large facility (134,000 square feet) that is clean and organized. The work environment is encouraging and upbeat, with a long-tenured workforce. The role involves working 24-32 hours a week.
