Job Description Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer – GE Aerospace Research Fabrication Shop will have oversight of the work of hourly employees and have shop technical leadership responsibility. This role will include manufacturing technical support for solving difficult issues in the GE Aerospace Research Shops (Toolroom, Sheetmetal Shop, Wire Room, Waterjet Room, Glass Shops, Model Shop). Develop and Lead a Training Program to ensure continuity of Shops operations. Help to develop manufacturing process plans that leverage the capabilities of the Shops. Provide support with selecting and sourcing tooling and materials. You will also be expected to make business critical decisions in a timely manner and meet safety, quality, production, and delivery metrics within the area.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Direct the activities of an hourly team within the Shops
Identify, Quote, Source, and Purchase Materials and Tooling used for Manufacturing
Achieve highest safety levels on the campus
Develop, coordinate, lead and execute daily production plans
Coordinate consistent and effective work scope transitions from area to area
Achieve highest levels of internal and external customer service
Develop and implement process controls
Support GE Aerospace Research Shops Team Leader in the strategic planning of manpower, equipment and other resources
Mentor and motivate team in safety, quality and productivity improvements
Coordinate resources to achieve goals with a timely and cost-effective strategy
Identify, develop and execute a deck of projects to improve existing process quality and lower cost.
Work with Hourly Leaders to develop and execute plans to drive step change advancements in manufacturing processes
Interface with the Hourly Staff for improvement of product quality and to ensure corrective feedback to quality issues
Initiate and project manage capital equipment projects that support in-house Manufacturing sustainability, cost and cycle improvements
Work with shop to develop manufacturing methods, schedules, and documentation for improvements
Implement operator training plans
Apply lean methods to equipment and material handling designs to reduce waste throughout the production process
Design, procure and implement tooling and fixturing to support rapid setup changes
Analyze and plan staff utilization, space requirements, workflow, and layout of equipment to achieve maximum operational quality and reliability
Support Site lean and EHS initiatives
Troubleshoot issues with equipment and processes
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 5 -7 years of experience in Manufacturing)
Must be 18 years or older
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY

The base pay range for this position is $93,800 - $156,400 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on August 10th, 2024
