Job Description

This is an opportunity to join our Product Development team within Portfolio Valuations team in India. Our global Portfolio Valuation services team is responsible for providing OTC derivatives valuation services to external customers, In this highly specialized role, Product the Development analyst must possess a strong understanding, and display relevant experience, in sourcing independent market observables and calibrating pricing models to address the highly complex derivative portfolio requirements of our customers. We are looking for a motivated individual with strong analytical and programming skills who would like to utilize their OTC derivatives technical expertise and grow their entrepreneurial spirit by joining our global Portfolio Valuations team. The ideal candidate is independent, analytical, organized and must be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Customer Operations group

  • Utilize advanced Portfolio Valuations product knowledge to provide derivative pricing guidance to our global Customer Operations teams in their day-to-day production of customer valuations and active assistance in deep dive customer valuation challenges

  • Product Development Analysts are presented with requests for complex, bespoke, or custom valuation needs, or challenges with existing valuation services by the Customer Operations team. Analysts develop original valuation strategies to address requests: interpreting trade term sheets, making amendment to trade setups, assigning price bands, and modifying proprietary models and valuation methodologies to bring valuations in line with new/evolving market realities; and explaining valuation methodology differences to customers.

  • Work with complex, proprietary financial models and calculations, leverage expertise to make decisions regarding use and implementation for optimal derivative pricing and discuss the proprietary valuations in detail with customers with deep quantitative, technical, and product expertise.

  • Develop tools for Customer Operations teams that will improve efficiency, accuracy, and allow valuation of trades not currently supported by current systems and processes.

Feature development and testing

  • Actively participate in new Portfolio Valuations - derivatives product and feature development initiatives to expand our product offering, development of new pricing capabilities, models, testing, analysis, or related project work.

  • Define requirements for new Portfolio Valuations features for the Software Development team, and support the testing of new the features once they are implemented to ensure accuracy.

New Business support

  • Facilitate pre-sales and customer onboarding by providing consultancy on the feasibility of customer requests, and guidance on how to efficiently provide valuation coverage and testing in new areas.

  • Provide technical training and support to Sales and prospects/clients if required

Training and Continuous improvement

  • Provide training to S&P Global Portfolio Valuations colleagues on Product and valuation models

  • Investigate potential changes to valuation methodology to improve models and pricing, or increase product coverage.

  • Maintain a keen awareness of Portfolio Valuations industry trends, competitive factors, opportunities to expand across asset classes and markets, and newly emerging technology in the derivative space.

Experience and requirements:

  • MSc or PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Physics, Statistics, Mathematics and Economics). Graduate roles will require candidates to have a BSc in a quantitative discipline.

  • Candidate having prior experience in financial markets and derivatives modelling/pricing will be given preference

  • Excellent data analysis skill and working knowledge of programming languages like Python, Java, C++, VBA

  • Work experience in OTC derivatives valuation, derivatives modelling or a related field that allowed candidate to develop a strong understanding of OTC derivatives products and valuation models.

  • Candidates with an operational background in managing derivatives, or with no experience, will be required to show capability and competency in derivative pricing theory during the interviewing process. At the interview, they will be expected to solve theoretical questions related to derivatives modelling, pricing and implementation.
