GE Vernova Systems Engineer- Systems Studies in Noida, India

Job Description Summary

This role is designed to interpret the customer’s technical enquiry and to design the most cost effective overall solution for an HVDC installation utilizing the PES power electronics solutions, aiming to minimizing the total cost, and to specify the main (high-value) items of bought-out equipment. The successful candidate will be involved in the development and industrialization of solutions tools and processes. The successful candidate will have proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering.

Job Description

Key technical areas:

Mandatory:

  1. Power System Studies – Steady State
  • Load Flow.

  • Short Circuit.

  • Unit Interaction Factor.

  • Multi Infeed Interaction Factor.

  • Arc Flash.

OR

Power System Studies – Dynamics RMS

  • Transient Stability.

  • Fundamental Frequency Temporary Overvoltage.

  • Control Interaction.

  • RMS modelling of Control System.

AND

  1. Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Studies
  • Transient Overvoltage.

  • Transient Recovery Voltage.

  • Lightning.

  • Other EMT studies.

Good to have:

  1. Harmonic Studies
  • Harmonic performance; harmonic stability; harmonic filter design.

  • Power Line Carrier Interference studies and filters.

  • Harmonic site measurements.

  1. Electromagnetic Compatibility Studies
  • Radio Frequency Interference and screening.

  • Electromagnetic Fields.

  • Substation Electromagnetic Zoning.

  • EMC compliance and risk assessment of the substation.

  • Earthing and bonding.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Modelling and performing the studies; deliver study reports.

  • Technical responsibility in areas of expertise.

  • Provide guidance to peers on areas of expertise.

  • Customer facing responsibilities.

  • Processes: develop and industrialise solution tools and processes associated with the engineering activities identified above. Design Guides.

  • Development: Be actively involved in new developments in HVDC technologies, implementing control and protection solutions and creating / delivering new analysis techniques and system study tools in order to provide optimized system study solutions.

  • External activities: Represent the business in external events by publishing technical papers or participating in working groups (CIGRE/IEC/IEEE).

  • Adherence to company policies and Code of Conduct.

  • Health and Safety: consider Health and Safety preventions, risks, behaviors. Attend EHS training.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering or masters in Power Systems. PhD degree in Power system would be an added advantage.

  • Proficiency in software tools - PSS®E/ DIgSILENT Power Factory/ PSCAD

  • Knowledge of Matlab/ Fortran/Python will be an added advantage
