Saint-Gobain Health and Safety Manager in NORCROSS, Georgia
The Health and Safety Manager will provide leadership and direction to Health, & Safety programs at two plants, within the Architectural Specialties and Gypsum Finishing business segments as part of the CertainTeed Interior Products Group: in alignment with the Company’s Vision, Mission Statement and Values. With strategic guidance from both the central function and local plant manager, this hands-on leadership position will; ensure corporative and provincial legislative compliance, develop and maintain Saint Gobain safety standards, continue developing an autonomous Health and Safety culture and define safety operating procedure, provide training and develop risk identification methods.
This Position will directly report to the Local Plant Manager, with a dotted line reporting to the Area EHS Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide interactive, hands-on leadership, coaching and mentoring to personnel consisting of hourly and salaried employees at two locations: Norcross and Conyers
Identify and correct potential hazards by inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment
Perform data entry into corporate EHS databases (GAIA, monthly reports)
Analyze health and safety data to populate and use WCM Health &; Safety Pillar Board to define, implement and deliver objectives.
Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine their causes and to determine whether the incidents could have been or can be prevented (RCA)
Interview employees to learn about work environments and incidents that lead to accidents or injuries and evaluate the corrections that were made to remedy violations found during health inspections.
Continuously inspect and evaluate workplace to ensure compliance with government safety regulations, and Saint Gobain safety standards
Promote, develop and train behavioral initiatives to drive to an autonomous health and safety culture
Audit against Saint Gobain Safety Standards and ensure compliance
Liaises with government entities and maintains all H&S related permits
Maintain H&S training program to ensure proper training is provided for all Saint-Gobain Safety Standards and OSHA regulation
Lead and facilitie joint health and safety team meetings
Conduct Risk Assessments with salaried and hourly employees and deliver actions to mitigate the identified risks
Prioritize all risks according with Saint Gobain WCM tools
Develop and implement Safety Risk reduction projects plans based on Risk Calculator
Communicate Safety Warnings and evaluate the possibility of occurrence at own location
Participative member of U.S. EH&S national teams
Ensure CertainTeed’s standards of safety are designed into process and equipment utilizing WCM principles
Provides support to project teams during delivery phase and commissioning of equipment
Identify safety opportunities and develop solutions of corrective actions
Assist with training for operators and maintenance personnel
Provide support to all departments on 5S systems, enforces plant rules and safety regulations, consistent with the corporate Values and Attitudes
In conjunction with Area EHS Manager and Local HR, provide direction and support on WCB claims and return to work programs
Maintain Industrial Hygiene standards according with company and legal regulations
Organize safety functions and campaigns (EHS DAY etc.)
May assist engineering capital projects, process implementation and commissioning, and regulatory affairs by providing adequate risk assessment specific for each project
Drive STOPS program in the Plant

Bachelor's degree in EHS, HR or related business discipline / technical field OR 1-2 years of equivalent training and work experience which provides a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health & Safety principles, practices, and OSHA regulations.
5+ years of applied professional experience in environmental and safety, which provides a comprehensive knowledge and understanding; preferably in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
3+ years working with organizational health and safety
Prior experience with facilities, and previous manufacturing experience, and experience in Management in an industrial setting.
Must be a self-starter and team player
Demonstrated ability to influence others without direct authority
Lead by example
Very good knowledge of H&S standards
Excellent analytical and problem - solving capabilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
Flexible and open-minded with excellent written and oral communication
Proficient using computers and Microsoft Office Suite
