Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Air Quality Specialist Trainee (Environmental Trainee) in Norristown, Pennsylvania

If you are interested in furthering your Commonwealth career as an Environmental Trainee, apply today to become a part of our team!   DESCRIPTION OF WORK The Environmental Trainee will undergo a comprehensive 12-month training program to learn the responsibilities of an Air Quality Specialist. Throughout this training period, the trainee will work closely with either an Air Quality Specialist or the Air Quality District Supervisor to gain hands-on experience in the field. All work completed by the trainee, including memos, reports, letters, and other related tasks, will be carefully reviewed by the supervisor before being finalized or released. This ensures that the trainee receives constructive feedback and guidance to improve their skills and knowledge in the environmental sector.

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week after 6 months in the position. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. Salary:Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,839 (before taxes). Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or A bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirement: Possession of a valid PA non - commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent is required.

Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within DEP Region 1 - Southeast, which includes Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.  If no eligible candidates who live within Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
