Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer position within the Science and Technology (S&T) organization is responsible for supporting the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components for electro-mechanical combination and medical device products. This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and the ability to apply them to solve complex engineering problems.

Primary goals, objectives and functions include:

  • Design and develop mechanical systems and components to meet project specifications.

  • Conduct analysis and testing to ensure the reliability and performance of mechanical designs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs into larger systems.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks software.

  • Perform simulations and analysis to validate designs.

  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure product performance and reliability.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production.

  • Prepare technical documentation and reports.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on mechanical designs.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and efficiency.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and apply them to projects.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering AND 2+ years in the Medical Device, Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry in relevant device development.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering AND 5+ years in the Medical Device, Biotech or Pharmaceutical Industry in relevant device development.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Experience with tolerance stack-up analyses.

  • Experience executing and documenting Design Verification testing for medical devices.

  • Experience using Polarian product development and Veeva Vault documentation tools.

  • Experience executing Reliability Verification testing for electro-mechanical medical devices.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.

  • Experience with FEA and CFD tools.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.

  • Experience in project management.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
