University of Iowa Community Credit Union Senior Accountant in North Liberty, Iowa
Position Summary
This position will collaborate closely with the Controller, Assistant Controller and Chief Financial Officer to coordinate and execute the financial and reporting duties and responsibilities of the credit union and subsidiary entities. This position is responsible for ensuring ancillary loan tapes agree to general ledger and relevant data posted in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This role will assist the Controller and Assistant Controller with external financial reporting and examinations as well as regulatory reporting. This position will also perform other special projects and assignments as may be directed by the Controller.

Salary range for this position is $90,593.36 - $121,250.74 with a progressive benefit package.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change:

Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.
Ensures confidentiality of member information.
Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or Credit Union sponsored events, on an annual basis.
Performs monthly accrual entries and assists with month-end closing process (including analysis).
Monitors routine payables to ensure proper timing and recognition of expenses.
Identify and prepare necessary journal entries relating to ancillary loan tapes.
Subject matter expert for ancillary loan tapes and transaction purpose and flow from origination to general ledger.
Ability to analyze data sets and be able to identify any anomalies or erroneous entries, research any issues and drive resolution.
Performs bank reconciliation for all related CUSO entities.
Performs monthly review of balance sheet for each CUSO entity.
Assists in the preparation of quarterly NCUA 5300 call report.
Provides support for annual audit report documentation and workpapers.
Monitor FHLB collateral and ensure compliance, daily.
Identifies opportunities for efficiency and/or effectiveness improvements, including looking for opportunities to reduce human errors.
Performs any other temporary or permanent duties as assigned.
Job Requirements/Expectations
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field required.
Three or more years of related experience in a comparable position.
A thorough understanding of general ledger functionality from transaction to financial statement reporting.
Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
Ability to independently analyze complex accounting transactions and general ledger variances.
Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Ability to operate in complex and ambiguous environments, using experience and judgment to make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
Exceptional eye for detail with a high level of accuracy and an ability to independently analyze and problem solve errors and processes.
Demonstrated critical thinking to identify efficiencies or new approaches for current operating procedures.
Ability to apply discretion and trust with confidential material.
Self-directed nature, fostering an ability to work independent of supervision, but able and willing to take direction when provided.
Regular reliable attendance and punctuality are essential functions to this position.
Must possess a growth mindset with an inquisitive mind and willingness to learn from setbacks.
Adaptability, a positive attitude, excellent attendance, and strong self-motivation are indispensable attributes for this position.
Power BI / Power Automate experience a plus.
The candidate must come in ready to assume the role with limited training.
Must be bondable.

This position reports to the Vice President / Controller
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position is not responsible for the supervision of other employees.
