Space Dynamics Laboratory Lead Electrical Engineer in North Logan, Utah

The Space Dynamics Lab (SDL) is seeking a highly qualified Lead Electrical Engineer to support our space system programs. In this role, you will be responsible for the architecture, technical trade-offs, and oversight of the technical progress and execution of satellite avionics components. You must be able to understand system needs, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and integrate solutions, and ensure technical requirements and performance objectives are met in partnership with the program management team.
Key Responsibilities
Provides technical leadership for all avionics-related aspects of the project, collaborating with the Project Manager (PM) and Systems Engineering Lead
Ensures functional requirements are met, risks are mitigated, and technical challenges are resolved through innovative solutions and detailed analysis
Oversees contractor development efforts and leads trade studies, design evaluations, and engineering analyses to address system and component issues
Maintains strong technical relationships with stakeholders, including customers, technical teams, and management
Communicates technical progress and results clearly, both verbally and in writing
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field
10 years of electrical engineering or other engineering experience, preferably in the aerospace industry
Strong understanding of core systems engineering principles, including technical leadership, requirements management, configuration control, interface management, and verification processes with at least one year in of space or aerospace project experience
Knowledge of general electrical engineering processes, especially those specific to aerospace hardware development
Familiarity with Mission Assurance (MA) and Project Management roles and responsibilities
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to deliver succinct and clear information to customers
Willingness to travel
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of spacecraft systems engineering experience or advanced degrees in a relevant technical field
Familiarity with small satellites, including system requirements and subsystems
Experience with space vehicle and space systems development
Proven expertise in developing and qualifying aerospace hardware
Leadership experience in managing small technical teams
Comprehensive experience with multiple facets of the system development lifecycle, gained through involvement in various projects
Active Top Secret U.S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance
