Position Description
Job Summary
CertainTeed is looking for a Research and Development Engineer to help improve the sustainability, performance, energy efficiency, and appeal, of homes and buildings through research, design, and development of new building products and processes. This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of experts in building physics, engineering & science, and architecture that focuses on new product and process development and specializes in new markets, advanced materials, and new construction techniques. Using the latest prototyping and manufacturing technologies, you will manage to industrialize and optimize successful product ideas and process designs, toshape the future of construction methods and materials.
Responsibilities:
Conduct materials research and contribute to the development of interior and exterior construction products.
Lead prototyping and test development activities, ensuring the quality and reliability of developed materials and products.
Manage projects from conception to industrialization, adhering to timelines and quality standards.
Design and optimize manufacturing processes, focusing on scale-up for industrialization.
Conduct failure analysis and implement improvements to enhance product performance.
Utilize strong data analysis skills to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
Project documentation and management, and strong presentation, and
Understand and contribute to intellectual property development within the field.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
Apply a design for manufacturing approach to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
BS with 7+ years experience, Masters with 3+ years experience in engineering disciplines like Manufacturing,Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or similar.
Experience in manufacturing and/or research environments, with demonstrated and strong project management, communication, and presentation skills.
Experience or interest in construction, buildings, and/or architecture strongly preferred.
Must be comfortable with process and product design/development, 3D CAD, prototyping, testing, programming, and statistical data analysis.
Experience in design for automation and design for manufacturing is strongly desirable.
