Crate & Barrel Director, Supply Chain Technologies in Northbrook, Illinois

So we can continue to help others love how they live in moments that matter, the iconic brand is looking for a driven and passionate professional to raise the bar and join our Technology department as a Director, Supply Chain Technologies, located in our Northbrook, IL corporate office.

The Director, Supply Chain Technologies is a key member of the technology leadership team and reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer at Crate&Barrel. This role will lead the technology team responsible for supporting the Supply Chain and Operations business needs across all key functions (Warehousing, Logistics, Returns & Delivery Services). This role is pivotal in the multi-year transformation of the Supply Chain to establish enterprise-grade systems solutions with an eye on future growth and expansion of Crate&Barrel. The Director will collaborate with warehouse operations, logistics and sourcing leadership to understand business needs and strategies, and in turn, drive technology/system solutions to meet these strategies and to optimize the work of the supply chain business domain.

  • Directs the development teams to develop robust, technical solutions that are aligned with the business and technology capability roadmap for supply chain.

  • Partner with business process owners, functional leads and subject matter experts to help define and clarify functional business requirements.

  • Understand existing business processes and technology to help develop the “to be” state, and partner with the business to establish clear metrics to define the goals around project success.

  • Lead strategic process design sessions to define the functional and technical needs of the business.

  • Guide the development of functional designs in partnership with the business and technology teams that align with technology standards and architecture principles.

  • Provide strategic leadership for solution test planning for functional and user acceptance testing.

  • Provide technology leadership and help design key solutions in collaboration with warehouse, logistics, planning and sourcing management and operational teams for:

  • Warehousing systems, eg: JDA/Blue Yonder (preferred) or Manhattan Technologies

  • Supply Chain visibility solutions, eg: GT Nexus

  • Transportation and carrier management systems

  • Advanced robotics and material handling systems, eg: Swisslog, 6Rivers

  • Labor management solutions

  • Represent warehouse, logistics, planning and sourcing business needs and domain strategies in development of the technology strategy.

  • Contribute to the technology strategy by identifying, assessing and recommending external trends in technology and methodologies.

  • Understand future business strategies and directions to anticipate technical needs.

Required Skills

  • We do not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position

  • Degreed professional (Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree) with at least 10 years of relevant experience, including design and implementation of warehouse and distribution systems

  • At least 7 years in a management capacity, including leadership at the Sr. Manager or Director level, supervising and leading an application development team implementing additional software modules or application development to meet business objectives

  • Hands on experience with JDA/Blue Yonder (preferred) or Manhattan Technologies

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work productively with senior leadership, technology partners, and non-technical stakeholders

  • Significant experience leading business analysts/product managers and application development teams and partnering with operations teams to deliver on transformational supply chain initiatives utilizing leading warehouse, transportation, labor and supply chain logistics software solutions

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence others, drive new initiatives and provide a new way of thinking in the organization

  • Strong project management skills, ability to draft effective work plans

  • Understanding of digital tools and technologies such as cloud, analytics, API architecture

  • Proven experience in implementation of enterprise solutions

  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies in supply chain and operations

  • Good reading, written and verbal language skills (English)
