Lab Assistant Tech - Microbiology
Northridge Hospital Medical Center
Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our busy Regional Microbiology team as a Lab Assistant Technical . This position plays a vital role in supporting our laboratory's mission to provide accurate and timely diagnostic testing for our patients.
Responsibilities
Will process Micro samples of all specimen types onto appropriate media.
Prepare and sterilize laboratory equipment and supplies.
Collect, process, and label patient samples according to established protocols.
Perform routine laboratory procedures, including plating, streaking, and inoculation.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of all laboratory activities.
Assist with the preparation of reagents and media.
Clean and maintain laboratory work areas and equipment.
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
Assist the Clinical Lab Scientist and Medical Lab Techs as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency.
One (1) year laboratory clerical and/or phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility required
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory setting is preferred.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and autoclaves.
Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
Phlebotomy training must meet needs of newborn through geriatric populations.
California Phlebotomy Technician License (CT Phlebotomy) required.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification (AHA BLS) required.
Fire Safety Card (CT Fire Card) required. (must obtain 90 days from hire date)
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Pay Range
$23.00 - $25.97 /hour
