Position Summary:

The Manager, Technical Accounting will ensure the Company's compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rule and regulations, ensure high level of quality in the Company's implementation and maintenance of reporting infrastructure, and improve control environment surrounding global consolidations and assist with financial analysis to enhance financial reporting. Support preparation and review of financial reports and statements to be distributed to both external and internal constituencies.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a direct report to the Director of Financial Reporting, the Manager, Technical Accounting will:

Provide support, advice and counsel to the Director of Financial Reporting, CAO and other senior executives within Cooper Standard on a variety of topics. Lead, coach and develop a technical accounting analyst. Provide technical accounting consultation and support to internal constituents regarding US GAAP and practical implementation thereof, including, but not limited to, special projects related to purchase accounting, leasing, tooling and other technical areas, ensuring the Company's position on complex transactions are fully documented and supported. Assess the status of the Company's existing accounting policies, procedures and internal/disclosure controls to identify deficiencies and areas for improvement. Maintain a high level of technical proficiency in US GAAP, and SEC Regulations, as well as relevant international Financial Reporting Standards. Monitor technical accounting, regulatory and financial reporting developments to ensure Cooper Standard maintains compliance with current and developing standards and regulations. Develop and deliver US GAAP and Company-specific training programs and materials. Guide and support various quarterly processes, including the balance sheet review process (plant and regional levels). Assess accounting processes and assist in developing consistent accounting practices across regions. Assist in monitoring control environment in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 and Operational Risk Management requirements. Maintain relationships with key external parties on behalf of Cooper Standard, including the external auditors, internal auditors, advisors and consultants.

Education and Qualifications:

The successful candidate in this role will have a minimum of 6 years of progressively more responsible accounting and financial experience in Public Accounting and a company known for developing outstanding financial talent. Exposure in high-growth, multi-billion dollar manufacturing organizations is a plus.

A CPA designation is required, and education credentials include an undergraduate degree, with an MBA or Master of Accounting being particularly attractive. Excellent audit and financial accounting experience, prior experience with a Big 4 accounting firm preferred. Maintains utmost, highest integrity in all aspects of position and is transparent in communications. Global experience and a multi-cultural mindset are advantageous. Excellent interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills essential, with the demonstrated ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the global organization.
