Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity in the realm of accounting at a CPA firm in Nottingham, Maryland. We are in search of a Sr. Accountant who will play a crucial role in assisting with tax preparations, primarily corporate tax returns, and other financial duties.
Responsibilities:
• Assisting with the preparation of corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with laws and regulations.
• Supporting with the preparation and analysis of financial statements, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
• Aiding with the closing of books, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete.
• Conducting account and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure financial transparency and accuracy.
• Creating and maintaining accurate journal entries, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the firm's financial records.
• Utilizing software such as Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and Ultra Tax to effectively manage and analyze financial data.
• Providing back-up support to bookkeepers as needed, ensuring the smooth operation of the finance department.
• Assisting with month-end close procedures, ensuring all financial records are up-to-date and accurate.
• Analyzing financial data and reports, providing valuable insights for decision-making processes. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within a CPA Firm - Business Management setting
• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations
• Solid understanding of general ledger management and journal entries
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
• Experience with month-end close procedures
• Knowledge of tax preparation processes, with a focus on corporate tax return
• Ability to analyze financial statements effectively
• Expertise in financial statement preparation
• Proficiency in using QuickBooks for accounting tasks
• Familiarity with Ultra Tax software for tax preparation
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
• CPA certification is a plus but not mandatory.
