ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Utilizes various power system analysis tools to study expected transmission system performance with emphasis on steady-state thermal and voltage analysis. Performs and reviews steady-state thermal/voltage analyses for new load interconnection requests. Develops, tests and proposes new system capital expansion projects to mitigate potential system performance concerns or planning criteria violations. Coordinates closely with cross-departmental teams to develop project scopes. Supports RTO and RRO data submittals, regulatory filings, NERC compliance activities and development of contracts. Provides technical support to groups internal and external to the company. Supports development of models to facilitate system studies. Leads development of internal and external analysis and documentation of various facets of the transmission system. Supports Department functions by monitoring and proposing enhancements to Planning processes to support Department objectives and deliverables. Attends meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education. Knowledge of electric utility system operations, planning, protection, design, construction and/or maintenance functions preferred. Minimum Experience: No work experience required for an Associate Engineer level. Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in related area for an Intermediate Engineer level. Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in related area for Senior Engineer level Transmission Planning experience preferred. Direct or indirect knowledge of the MISO planning processes. Ability to learn and utilize various power system analysis software. PSS/E or TARA experience preferred. Engineercandidates must be able to quickly learn job specific skills and be able to work independently given regular work direction while appropriately keeping others informed of activities and issues or potential issues. Senior Engineer candidates must have advanced engineering skills and be able to work under minimal supervision given high level work direction while appropriately keeping others informed of activities and issues or potential issues. Possess sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals inside and outside the company. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access). Some travel may be required.
