Job Title: Safety & Quality ManagerJob Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety & Quality Manager to join our team. The role involves analyzing and developing safety plans, risk assessments, and pre-job briefings, investigating incidents, and developing corrective actions to change behavior and address system weaknesses. The Safety & Quality Manager will supervise Safety and Quality Coordinators and provide leadership for projects related to commercial, industrial, institutional electrical, communication, utility distribution, and utility transmission services.
Responsibilities
Maintain Safety & Quality documents on SharePoint for customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
Stay current on industry standards, regulations, and work practices.
Investigate incidents using the TapRooT process to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Communicate and coach customer safety requirements.
Continue education through professional certifications and training.
Train field and management in trade-specific practices, SQP initiatives, and HuP curriculum.
Develop and write weekly and monthly safety correspondences.
Develop agendas and facilitate monthly safety meetings.
Organize and compile needed safety and quality documentation.
Review all contract documents to become familiar with project safety and quality requirements.
Identify areas for improvement for project personnel and relay to Project Manager for further training.
Assist in identifying appropriate materials and tooling to ensure safety and quality workmanship.
Assure complete and thorough pre-construction planning related to Safety & Quality.
Develop Site Specific Safety Plans and/or Health and Safety Plans with Operations.
Facilitate a review of the SSSP or HASP with the Project Manager during the preconstruction process.
Attend pre-construction meetings and provide input on safety and quality responsibilities.
Attend project meetings as needed, representing the company.
Lead, manage, and coach Safety & Quality Coordinators.
Consistently complete required documentation on time.
Perform weekly crew observations (3 per week).
Follow up on training with validation through test results and observable improvements.
Consistently provide effective coaching to the field workforce and Safety & Quality Coordinators.
Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and the project team.
Consistently follow established policies and procedures.
Stay abreast of current work methods and industry standards.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Safety within the electrical utility sector.
Good oral and written English language expression.
Strong public speaking and training abilities.
Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, leadership, and relationship skills.
Ability to apply trade concepts to real-world solutions to achieve compliance, better safety results, and efficiency.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Efficient time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Knowledge of general construction practices.
Knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards, with specific understanding of 1910.269 being a plus.
Knowledge of additional administrative agencies regulations (MSHA, MOSHA, etc.).
Knowledge of the National Electric Code and NFPA 70E.

Work Environment
This role will involve working on various job sites throughout the Hudson Valley, NY, as well as from home. The candidate will be expected to be home every night, though occasional overnight stays at some projects may be required.
