ST CHARLES COUNTY GOVERNMENT System Technologist in O Fallon, Missouri
JOB OVERVIE
W:The purpose of this position is to assist with the installation and repair of network equipment, computers, servers, printers, and other peripherals; and to assist in supporting and maintaining the Departments Computer-Aided Dispatch System, Automatic Vehicle Locator/Mobile Data System, and other 911 and Emergency Communications software suites/platforms. The work is under the supervision of the System Engineer II.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creates, maintains, and manages security permissions for current and new user privileges across all systems.
Assists with network maintenance, troubleshooting, and cable management.
Supports and maintains department reporting systems.
Assists with the installation of new software, software upgrades, and patches.
Provides training and technical guidance to other department personnel as required.Interfaces with app analyst, engineers, and end users to ensure data integrity and project requirements.
Maintains project progress reports and works to ensure project task and activity schedules are met.
Provides end user training and documentation as required.
Stays abreast of advancements and developments in Information Technology.
Maintains knowledge of emergency communication procedures and techniques and county geography.
Participate in On-Call rotation with team members to ensure 24/7 support of the technology needs of the department and supported outside agencies concerning, CAM, mobile, RMS, etc.
Assists in other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education
- Associate degree in computer science, information technology, or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
- Certifications
- Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, Network +, Security +, etc.) or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
- Job Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience in the Information Technology field.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Excellent time-management skills.
- Thorough knowledge and experience with computer systems and IT components.
- Knowledge of both Microsoft Windows PC and Server Operating Systems.
- Knowledge of both Microsoft Access and SQL Server.
- Knowledge of Web Content management systems and web development.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and GPS principles and practices a plus. Knowledge of FirstNET and other software utilized in Public Safety Systems a plus.
- Must have proven experience performing microcomputer repair, maintenance, and working with LAN/WAN networks.
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record.
Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.
