Real Estate Project Manager
Non-Profit Organization | Oakland, CA
Temp-to-Perm $35–$40/hr on Contract
About the Role:
The Real Estate Project Manager is a pivotal role in the successful development and implementation of commercial and affordable housing projects. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong project management, construction management, and communication skills. You will collaborate with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and community stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage all phases of real estate development projects, including site selection, feasibility analysis, design, permitting, construction, and lease-up.
Develop and oversee project budgets, schedules, and contracts.
Coordinate all aspects of construction, including site inspections, quality control, and contractor collaboration.
Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant requirements.
Maintain strong relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and consultants.
Provide project updates to internal teams, funders, and community stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate risks and challenges proactively.
Contribute to the organization's real estate development strategy.
Assist in preparing funding applications and reports.
Represent the organization at community meetings and public hearings.
Maintain thorough and accurate project documentation.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Strong project management skills, including planning, organizing, and executing projects effectively.
Expertise in construction management, with knowledge of building codes, contracts, and quality control.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
Knowledge of affordable housing development and financing is a plus.
Experience engaging with community stakeholders and addressing concerns.
Requirements
.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Real Estate, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate development or construction management.
Experience with commercial and/or affordable housing development preferred.
Proven track record of delivering successful projects.
Strong understanding of equitable and inclusive development principles.
Compensation and Benefits:
Contract Role: $35–$40 per hour during the temporary phase.
Permanent Opportunity: Salary ranging from $82,000 to $90,000 annually upon successful hire.
