Amerlux Senior Production Planner in Oakland, New Jersey

Amerlux, a pioneer in the lighting industry for over 35 years, is seeking a Senior Productin Planner to join our marketing team . This position works full time in our Oakland, NJ Production Facility The core hours are 6:00am to 2:30pm Monday through Friday. Must be able to work OT and Saturdays when required.

The primary responsibility of the Senior Production Planner is to make sure that each day's scheduled run of items occurs without incident within their respective departments. They are responsible for all material flow to their specific production lines, and the work order creation and material transactions that support this flow. This position will report to the Director of Operations and assist in ensuring a smooth production operation to meet lead time commitments, keeping orders shipped up to date and notifying the Purchasing team of any physical variances in inventory, and keeping Customer Service up to date with information by ensuring all promise dates are kept up to date, and all customer requests are answered within 24 hours. The Sentior Production Planner needs to be detail orientated and follow up on planned schedules, revised schedules and resolve any problems quickly and appropriately under the guidance of the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Owns the daily order reports data, ensuring all orders are updated in a concise timeline for any order shipping late or orders being requested to be expedited.

  • Ensures assigned production lines have all necessary materials to begin assembly prior to the start of the shift.

  • Utilizes thorough knowledge of all floor planner roles and responsibilities to cover for absent personnel.

  • Supervising planners and pickers, as assigned.

  • Multi-task in multiple roles when necessary.

  • Successfully motivate planners to ensure the highest level of productivity and accuracy.

  • Assists with the creation of work orders for any Fabrication/Paint, and ensuring proper completion of the process to maximize inventory accuracy.

  • Advises Material Handlers of components needed by pulling information from BOM’s, pick sheets, and engineering drawings.

  • Assists the Director of Operations with the scheduling of workflow orders, ensuring the master schedule is followed and lead times are met.

  • Reports any physical variance in inventory to Purchasing Expeditor and Inventory Manager and expedites issues that delay schedules to meet unforeseen situations.

  • Collaborate with the Director Operations and Purchasing department to set proper safety stock levels and adjustments.

  • Works with Material Handlers to minimize production stoppages due to component shortage; Report any stoppages that cause a deviation from the master schedule to Management.

  • Reports engineering concerns and issues ensuring production supervisors and manufacturing engineering are properly notified; Working with engineering to ensure they are resolved quickly to avoid delays to the schedule.

  • Actively participates in and leads continuous improvement projects to improve lead times and quality.

  • Meets safety and quality expectations while adhering to all OSHA and Amerlux requirements.

  • Meets all deadlines and tasks within the allotted scheduled posted hours.

  • Other duties as deemed appropriate by Management and the Company.

    Qualifications Include:

    Minimum 5 years of experience in a Warehouse and/or manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 2 years supervising others

  • Must be able to read and comprehend English to understand work instructions and drawings; bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills with various departments and levels of Management.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience with Oracle and thorough understanding of MRP / ERP Systems.

  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain Management.

  • Ability to multitask and manage changing business conditions is essential.

  • Working experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma environments preferred.
