We are located in picturesque Marion County, FL. The county is known as the Horse Capital of the World. Postion Summary:

The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients on the in-patient Adult Acute units. The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the staffing, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for psychiatric and chemically dependent patients during each designated shift. Also, responsible for the operational and programmatic management of the designated shift; and assist in the professional growth and development of nursing staff, and directly supervises employees in their respective units, carries out supervisory responsibilities. This position is responsible for planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems when needed.

The Nursing Supervisor will oversee all unit activities including, but not limited to, admissions, discharges, crisis intervention, restraint and/or seclusion, Baker Acts, relieving for break or meals. The Nursing Supervisor will coordinate all medical codes, whether real or mock, and ensure they are carried out appropriately and safely. The Nursing Supervisor will support the Admissions Department with patients and review of admission packets reviewing medical complications.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.

Experience:

Requires three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse. Prefer two (2) in psychiatric nursing. One (1) year of nursing supervisory experience required. Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, medications and their correct administration.

License/Certification:

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. Certification in psychiatric nursing preferred.

Demonstrated leadership, communication, teaching, management and computer skills.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Must be able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Must be able to write speeches, and articles for publications that conform to prescribed style and format. Must be able to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or board of directors.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to pass oral medications, administration of IM, SQ, basic wound care, TB-testing, obtain Vital signs, Oxygen administration, utilization of Accu-Check Glucometer, Breathalyzer, UDS testing, HCG testing, assist with all patient’s Activities of Daily Living.

Physical Requirements:

Work is physically and mentally demanding. Must be able to lift or move over fifty (50) pounds.

This position may be exposed to second hand smoke from patients while smoking in their designated smoking areas.
