Cisco Senior Technical Product Manager, Platform (ThousandEyes) in Oeiras, Portugal

Who We Are

The name ThousandEyes was born from two big ideas: the power to see things not ordinarily possible and the ability to collect insights from a multitude of vantage points. As the world continues its digital transformation and relies more on cloud services and the Internet, the "network," which is now both public and private, has become a black box our customers cannot see or understand.

Digital experiences rely on a vast ecosystem of internal infrastructure, ISPs, cloud providers, SaaS applications and many other external services that are critically dependent on the Internet. Our customers are reliant on an exponentially increasing set of tools to improve their digital posture and solve problems in real time. But with so many tools, the problem solving process is confusing and inconsistent. While the business is losing money and productivity with system downtime, teams are spending critical man hours solving a problem while looking across a huge set of tools.

Our Internet and cloud intelligence platform delivers the only collectively powered real-time view of the Internet and private networks, cloud, and SaaS platforms, helping enterprises and service providers identify problems before they impact revenue, damage brand reputation, or halt employee productivity.

In August 2020, Cisco Systems completed the acquisition of ThousandEyes, which now forms the ThousandEyes Business Unit within Cisco and is the Network Assurance solution for Cisco across the Cisco Networking Cloud.

About The Team

At Cisco ThousandEyes, we have a unique advantage: we move fast like a startup, but have the backing of a Fortune 100 company in Cisco. By tapping into the broad Cisco ecosystem and the totality of networking data at our fingertips, we can provide our customers the appropriate context to solve their problems and drastically reduce their mean time to resolution. You will be part of the platform team at ThousandEyes, whose mission is to provide our customers the right data at the right time in the right format, ensuring a platform that is easy to use, understand, and is extensible and scalable..

About The Role

As a Senior Product Manager at ThousandEyes, you will be responsible for our API and OpenTelemetry product area, as well as helping scale our licensing provisioning system. Your mission will be to lead a charge towards an API-first mindset across the product, helping our customers scale their use of the product by leveraging easy to use and extensible API’s. You will also provide support for our licensing provisioning system, getting deep into the technical details of how our system works and becoming a subject matter expert.

What You’ll Do

  • Work directly across the product organization to drive an API first mentality across product and engineering.

  • *

Identify opportunities for improvement across our API and OTEL infrastructure, ensuring our customers have the best possible developer experience.

  • Deep dive into our provisioning system and become a subject matter expert in the space, identifying areas for improvement and building better processes with the team.

  • *

Bring an entrepreneurial spirit and a focus on data driven insights to help build a long term strategy for the team.

  • Generate and shepherd creative ideas, both large and small, that bring value to customers and the business.

  • *

Stay hands-on with customers to keep them happy today, while gaining insight for future ideas.

  • Thoughtfully prioritize to maximize the impact of organizational effort.

What We’re Looking For

  • Technical Acumen: You will work closely with engineering to understand technical tradeoffs and their impact on the product. Being comfortable in the code is a plus, but not required.

  • *

Product Sense: Our favorite product managers bring together insights from every corner (customers, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams) to design and build the best product experience.

  • Curiosity: The best candidates understand that creativity and growth start with a curious, humble mindset and asking thoughtful questions.

  • *

Ownership: The best product managers take the responsibility of delivering a successful product to heart, and step in wherever needed, even if crossing typical role boundaries; they never shy away from the details nor lose sight of the bigger picture.

  • Communication: Effective communication to any audience (company leadership, engineering, customers, and more) is key to success in this role.

  • *

Attitude & Ambition: The best candidates are smart, hard working, competitive, and not afraid to fail. They are team first but willing to take the lead with minimal guidance and supervision.

Qualifications

  • Proven product management experience (at least 3+ years), with demonstrated success in product delivery, ideally at an Enterprise SaaS company (even better if in an Internet Infrastructure company)

  • *

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent technical experience, higher level degree (MBA, MS, etc.) a bonus but not required

  • Excellent verbal and written skills and the willingness to present and defend your ideas

  • *

Customer-focused, self-starter with high levels of initiative, commitment, energy, and comfort working in ambiguous environments

  • A collaborative spirit and comfort working in a team environment

  • *

Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

  • Exceptional project management skills with a focus on operational excellence

  • *

Experience with OpenTelemetry, API architecture, and other technical concepts

Why Cisco

#WeAreCisco, where each person is unique, but we bring our talents to work as a team and make a difference powering an inclusive future for all.

We embrace digital, and help our customers implement change in their digital businesses. Some may think we’re "old" (36 years strong) and only about hardware, but we’re also a software company. And a security company. We even invented an intuitive network that adapts, predicts, learns and protects. No other company can do what we do -you can’t put us in a box! But "Digital Transformation" is an empty buzz phrase without a culture that allows for innovation, creativity, and yes, even failure (if you learn from it.)

Day to day, we focus on the give and take. We give our best, give our egos a break, and give of ourselves (because giving back is built into our DNA.) We take accountability, bold steps, and take difference to heart. Because without diversity of thought and a dedication to equality for all, there is no moving forward.

So, you have colourful hair? Don’t care. Tattoos? Show off your ink. Like polka dots? That’s cool. Pop culture geek? Many of us are. Passion for technology and world changing? Be you, with us.

We recognize that diverse teams make the strongest teams, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
