Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center Medical Records Team Lead in Ogdensburg, New York

CHMC-Medical Records Lead-Full Time-Day Shift-7a-3p-Requisition 7435

The Medical Records Team Lead analyzes medical records according to established procedures. Assigns deficiencies as necessary. Scans medical records and performs quality checks per established guidelines. Functions as the liaison between the Health Information Management department and all customers, internal and external, including physicians, nurses, and patients. Handles incoming phone calls and resolves the issue or directs the call to the appropriate area. Responsible for merging duplicate patient accounts. Assists director with additional tasks as needed to include chart audits, purging, assisting healthcare providers with e-signature. Provides guidance and daily duties to clerical employees based on department's work load. Collects, sorts, and distributes department mail appropriately. Functions as team leader for the department in the absence of the director.

  • Director of Medical Records

    EDUCATION:

    Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years medical records experience in release of information, chart deficiencies, completion, and receptionist functions.

  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology

  • Knowledge of the scanning and quality check process for electronic health records.

  • Understanding of the concepts of HIPPA privacy and confidentiality required.

    Preferred:

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)

    TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

    Required:

  • Proficiency with general office skills and legal access issues

  • Exhibit proficient communication skills and ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a variety of personalities

  • Ability to sustain attention to detail and accuracy as it pertains to the documentation of information

  • Maintaining quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory agencies

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Proficiency computer applications
