Maintenance/ Mechanic Technician Supervisor

Position

SAS has an opening for a Hands-on Maintenance/Mechanic Technician Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

  • Scheduling: Creating schedules and assigning jobs to mechanics to ensure machines are covered in case of breakdowns

  • Training: Overseeing the training of mechanics

  • Performance evaluation: Inspecting machinery and evaluating the work and performance of mechanics

  • Safety: Ensuring compliance with safety practices and regulations, such as those from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

  • Equipment: Supervising the installation and commissioning of mechanical equipment, and performing quality assurance checks such as pressure testing and equipment alignment

  • Maintenance: Maintaining logs of machine repair and maintenance, and planning and overseeing preventative maintenance programs

  • Inventory: Maintaining inventories of tools, workshop equipment, supplies, and other stocks

  • Communication: Preparing reports, correspondence, and other records related to the work

  • Hiring: Interviewing and recommending applicants for employment, and ensuring equal employment opportunity in hiring and promotion

Job Qualifications

  • Detail-oriented leader with strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills while being able to work independently and manage deadlines.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment, modern repair methods, and mechanical drawings. They should also be able to read diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and reference manuals.

  • Machine/ Equipment Maintenance — performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

  • Repairing — repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.

  • Troubleshooting — determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

  • Critical Thinking — using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Equipment Selection — determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to perform a job.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical labor is often necessary for 8 hours or more per day with breaks approximately every two hours including stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, twisting, kneeling, talking, hearing, vibration, noise and engaging in repetitive motions and excellent vision.

  • Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs. unassisted, above 70 lbs. requires assistance.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Post High School education or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a mechanic supervisor in a fast paced manufacturing environment

  • Footwear manufacturing machinery, equipment and knowledge is a plus, but not required.
