The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of electronic controls for both new product development and ongoing projects. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of commercial requirements, electronic schematics, PCB design, design verification & validation, DFMEA, and the processes and procedures for releasing new products to manufacturing. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work both independently and collaboratively to meet project objectives, utilizing judgment and innovation to develop effective technical solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead multiple major projects, ensuring innovative solutions and effective tracking.

  • Serve as an SME on multiple systems, developing solutions to complex problems and achieving technical recognition.

  • Design and implement technical solutions, refine specifications, and manage risks.

  • Facilitate discussions, propose strategies, and secure support from cross-functional audiences.

  • Convey decisions through design artifacts and contribute to the technical vision.

  • Deliver presentations and write proposals and reports.

  • Translate customer needs into product specifications.

  • Stay updated with best practices and standards.

  • Mentor teams on processes and tools to enhance product quality.

  • Recommend tools and techniques for hardware development.

  • Understand design documents and defect assessments.

  • Synthesize complex information and generate creative solutions.

  • Use feedback to modify designs and apply principles.

  • Identify and respond to problems promptly.

  • Conduct BOM cost analysis.

  • Develop and maintain project timing plans.

  • Lead and support product design reviews.

  • Lead initiatives for legacy products.

  • Resolve component obsolescence issues.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a solid methodology.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to manage and drive multiple projects or tasks with a sense of urgency and a can-do attitude.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completed assignments.

  • A strong team player who can articulate opinions and work collaboratively in small team environments or cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with Design for Test, Design for Reliability, and Design for Manufacturing concepts.

  • High ethical standards, integrity, trustworthiness, and independence.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum B.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering.

  • 7-10 years of experience in embedded microprocessor control system design, including schematic capture and PCB design (Altium preferred).

  • 7-10 years of proficiency in Ethernet, CAN, USB, RS232/485, Modbus, I2C, SPI.

  • 7-10 years of experience with UART, GPIO, I2C, SPI, USB, PWM, TIMER, VIC, NVIC, SD Card, MMC, JTAG, SoM

  • 7-10 years of experience in DFMEA/PFMEA for electronic and electro-mechanical controls.

  • 7-10 years of experience in BOM cost analysis.

  • 7-10 years of experience in analog, digital, RF communications, memory, and power supply circuit design.

  • 7-10 years of experience designing both open and closed loop systems.

  • Capable of low-level debugging at the component level.

  • Ability to read and interpret firmware written in ANSI C/C++.
