Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores Senior Indirect Tax Analyst in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

BASIC PURPOSE : The primary purpose of this position is to ensure indirect taxes are accrued, collected, and remitted to taxing authorities accurately, timely, and efficiently. This position will assist in all areas of the tax department as needed.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage audits from taxing jurisdictions
Analyze returns and communicates trends of inconsistencies to tax leadership
Assist with and/or implement automation efforts
Mentor and train tax analysts
Assist tax leadership with special projects.
Assist and advise other departments within the company to prevent or resolve tax issues.
Reconcile work papers as assigned.
Research and identify applicable tax law
Review, Prepare and file motor fuel, occupancy, sales and use, and other various tax returns across multiple taxing jurisdictions
Prepare and file appropriate refunds.
Assist with amendments of prior returns to correct any past issues.
Assist with resolving tax notices
Assist with researching and verify tax rates and tax codes
Assist with analyzing, configuring, and updating tax software.
Review contracts for indirect tax implications
Make recommendations for improvement
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business
CPA/CMI a plus
Experience:
2+ years experience in indirect tax, accounting, reconciliation, or research

Hard skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suit; operation of standard office equipment
Soft skills: Strong verbal and oral communication skills; keen attention to detail; self-motivated; the ability to work closely with coworkers to resolve and correct tax issues

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard
Requires normal range of hearing and vision
