SUMMARY

This role is responsible for conducting accurate and efficient land surveys for various projects in Texas and Oklahoma.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Including but not limited to:

  • Frequent travel to Oklahoma initially for training and production work, with Texas Survey the primary focus as soon as practicable.
  • Provides technical support while working independently but under the direction of and as a team with a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS).
  • Works as a team with the Survey Crew Chief, actively engaging in the planning of traverses, GPS occupations, level routes, and other survey tasks.
  • Performs office or courthouse research of previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, physical evidence, and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
  • Performs field and office survey activities in accordance with standards set by CEC, RPLS, State Statutes, and the Standard of Care set by the surveying industry.
  • Operates and has knowledge of survey equipment functions and capabilities.
  • In coordination with the Survey Crew Chief, accurately records the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features for ALTA, TSPS, ROW, Route, Plat, Easement, and/or Topographic Surveys.
  • In coordination with the Survey Crew Chief, accurately creates field notes of surveys performed with detailed field sketches, rod height tracking, control deltas, and descriptive notes of unusual circumstances, etc.
  • Verifies the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites with a documented QC/QA process as determined by the Survey Department Manager and CEC.
  • Professionally communicates data and results of surveys with office personnel, engineering personnel, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Communicates and acts professionally both verbally and in writing with peers, clients, and the public at large while representing CEC Core Values.
  • Adheres to and follows established company policies, Geospatial Practice procedures, and standard survey procedures.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and vehicle in excellent working order.
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures of CEC and its clients.
    1. This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) safety sensitive position subject to annual and random drug testing.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years experience operating surveying equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic Land Surveying processes.
  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED).
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background check and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing. Department of Transportation (DOT) sensitive positions subject to annual and random drug testing.
  • English language skills: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to clients or CEC employees.
  • Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Reasoning skills: ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient personal computer skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, MicroStation, Trimble, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GEOPAK preferred.
  • Organizational skills: ability to prioritize and organize tasks; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Remote connectivity device with data plan sufficient for company requirements, such as multi-factor authentication, time tracking, truck maintenance, mileage tracking, expense reimbursement, e-mail, and virtual communications.

PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of Trimble equipment.One year of experience using Trimble GPS and Robots.
  • An associate degree.
  • Desire and ability to pursue certification as a CST or licensure as an SIT/RPLS
