Inframark, LLC Park Maintenance Supervisor in Opelika, Alabama

Job Description

ESG Operations, an Inframark Company, is hiring a Parks Maintenance Supervisor to support our team in Opelika. This position is responsible for the oversight of operations, supervising, and managing the maintenance of parks and recreational areas. The position is also responsible for staff supervision, training, planning, department tools, equipment, and supplies, budget preparation, regulation compliance, public relations, and reporting. We are looking for you to have horticultural experience and to be driven to maintain high-quality soccer and baseball fields.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Supervise staff, including interviewing, recommending selection, training, assigning work, evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and recommending termination; prepare periodic employee evaluations.

  • Plan and organize activities for areas of responsibility; schedule and assign tasks, ensuring compliance with company safety standards; assist with the completion of departmental tasks as needed.

  • Perform inspections of parks and recreational areas to ensure conditions comply with standards; visit worksites to monitor the performance of personnel.

  • Perform clerical functions such as preparing payrolls, performing research, preparing equipment and materials purchase orders, setting up and maintaining files and records, or entering work orders into a computer database, conducting periodic inventory of equipment and materials, and returning phone calls.

  • Process daily paperwork, including schedules, reports, and personnel information.

  • Oversee and approve expenditures for areas of responsibility, under a set dollar limit; purchase operating materials.

  • Gather and maintain information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility.

  • Attend staff meetings and conduct safety meetings to exchange information; attend approved in-service training and technical or professional classes to improve technical or professional skills.

  • Attend safety classes, and reinforce and comply with company safety policies.

  • Work harmoniously with ESG employees and the public, and comply with all ESG policies.

Qualifications

Prefer 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in public works, forestry, horticulture, or related industry, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A School Diploma or GED, is required. Must have a valid state driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards.

Knowledge of:

Skill in:

  • Coordinate the handling and handling using machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving moderate latitude for judgment regarding the attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items.

  • Compile, examine, or evaluate data or information and recommend action based on the results.

  • Supervise or direct others by assigning specific duties, maintaining harmonious relations, and promoting efficiency.

  • Instruct and/or train others through explanation, demonstration, and supervised practice, or by making recommendations based on technical disciplines.

  • Read professional publications; compose reports; speak to groups outside the organization.

  • Perform supervisory work involving policy and guidelines; the application of logical principles and thinking to solve practical problems within a department of the organization; solving both people and work related problems; continuous, close attention for accurate results; and frequent exposure to unusual pressure.

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.

Physical requirements

This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force regularly. The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
