Purpose/Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking Millwright(s) to join the Operations & Maintenance team for the Golden Triangle Polymers facility located in Orange, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your experience and be part of a team contributing to the design, startup, and operation of a new plant from the ground up. This position will be assigned to the project location in Orange, TX and will be a permanent position and member of the Maintenance team upon project completion.

Initially, the Millwright(s) will serve as SMEs for the project phase. They will assist the project through collaborating with contractors, writing/review of procedures, support MICE classification, drawing review, etc. Following startup, the job functions will transition to a more traditional role characterized by normal plant operations. #HPCP

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the Mechanical Integrity of equipment to achieve safe, reliable, and incident-free operations

  • Work with the mindset of “One Team One Result”

  • Follow safe work practices, basic maintenance procedures and enthusiastically contributes to a safe work culture

  • Participate in JSA and PSSR walk-downs

  • Support the project through document review and line walk downs, to ensure correct installation of equipment

  • Serve as SME for facility while construction and commissioning are ongoing

  • Utilize P&ID’s, equipment drawings, and specifications to complete assigned task

  • Performs testing, preventive, emergency, and repair maintenance work to provide the highest possible on-stream availability of all mechanical systems

Responsibilities (continued)

  • Examines equipment for defects in operation; troubleshoots and works collaboratively with Reliability, Operations, and other stakeholders on repair plan development

  • Removes, repairs, installs, and aligns mechanical rotating equipment

  • Prepare seal failure check sheet and associated documentation required to send seals out for repair

  • Operates hydraulic and pneumatic power tools and works with combination end wrench, socket wrench, pipe wrench, spud wrench, hammer wrench, torque wrenches, hammers, wedges, and similar equipment

  • Confirm time and complete all work orders in SAP

  • Provides feedback to Planners regarding job plan execution improvement as well as equipment BOM issues to be corrected in SAP

  • Review and update maintenance equipment procedures and work with PM coordinator and training coordinator to create new equipment maintenance procedures

  • Work in a manner that improves and enhances teamwork, plant organization and efficiency

Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with repair of compressors, pumps, injection pumps, gearboxes, cooling fans, etc.

  • Proficiency in laser alignment techniques

  • Capability to identify different bearing types, bearing use, proper installation of bearings, and bearing application

  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical seals, flush plans and seal failure analysis and demonstrate ability to perform pump and compressors repair, overhaul, and troubleshooting

  • Ability to read piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs), technical manuals, and other process safety information

  • Must possess include strong oral, verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, demonstrate excellent organizational skills, and be able to evaluate and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Customer-focused, results-driven and able to effectively work with and collaborate with personnel in different functional groups and at various levels throughout the company

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management (CMMS) software (i.e., SAP, JD Edwards, etc.)

  • Ability to accommodate overtime, split-shift hours, holidays, and call outs

  • Physical Requirements: climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and performing a wide range of physical activities at various heights and entry into confined spaces

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience as a Millwright monitoring and troubleshooting equipment and performing preventive and repair maintenance

  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Machine shop experience operating a lathe and vertical mill

  • NCCER certification, NCCCO certification or completion of a Certified Training Program

  • Prior experience with installation of new equipment in the field
