This position serves as a military-affiliated outreach coordinator. The outreach coordinator's primary focus is the individual student veteran's retention, completion, and holistic success. This is to be achieved through wellness checks, tabling, event support, and coordination between the career and internship centers. The coordinator will assess individual student needs and liaise with tutoring services and the VA VITAL program to assist students' academic, personal, and educational goals. The coordinator will provide students with resources to VA, campus, and community resources. The outreach coordinator will support the Military-Affiliated Student Hub compliance and outreach programs.

 

Work hours are from 8 am - 1 pm, with the possibility of an occasional night or weekend requirement.

 

Summary of Responsibilities

 

• Track and report student outreach outcomes, meet with virtually or in person military-affiliated students to assess their needs, provide guidance, referral, and advocacy, provide information regarding VA educational benefits and resources availalbe to students. Work with the full-time Military-Connected Outreach Coordinator to build sponsorship and donor programs for miliatry-affiliated students at UVU.

• Promotion of positive cohesion between military-affiliated students and the entire learning community through campus and community clinical education and training. Liason between the Military-Affiliated Student Hub, UVU Tutuoring, Counseling, and Care services.

• Schedules events in 25 live, coordinates with event and catering services, updates social media, play signage and on campus announcements.

• Supports events, sets up and puts away supplies after performing student facing tabling, identifies and coordinates swag useage and resupply, communicates and coordinates with State, Federal and community military-friendly organizations.

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

 

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree with two years of experience in mentoring, outreach, fundraising or higher education; or a combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling four years.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Associate degree preferred

• Veteran or Veteran Dependent of the US Armed Forces

• Experience in an institution of Higher Learning

• Knowledge of Military-Affiliated support services on campus, in the community, State and Federal programs

 

Licenses or Certifications:

 

• Drivers License

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

 

Knowledge

 

• Knowledge of Issues encountered by veteran students

• Knowledge of Veterans Educational Benefits regulations

• Knowledge of student advisement methods and techni ques

• Knowledge of tutoring and self-care resources

 

Skills

 

• Skill in word processing, spreadsheets and database software such as Microsoft Office Suite and Banner

• Skill in filing and records management

• Skill in conflict resolution

 

Abilities

 

• Ability to be highly detailed in work related issues
