Position Summary As a Controls Specialist Technician I, you'll be the backbone of our Resident System Support team, responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining material handling systems. This role serves as an excellent entry point for individuals seeking to embark on a rewarding career in controls engineering. Responsibilities Performs Allen Bradley (AB) PLC control-level issue diagnosis using ladder logic and Control View HMI. Follows change management process and develops ad-hoc PLC ladder code changes using Rockwell RSLogix family IDE's (5000 preferred). Utilizes AutoCAD to review, develop, and maintain electrical schematic and conveyor layout drawings. Conducts incident follow-up, root cause analysis, and documentation. Documents control system and equipment configuration changes. Mentors automation technicians, providing guidance and feedback to improve performance. Completes assigned safety training. Ensures compliance with safety programs, policies, and procedures. On-call availability as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; prefer a 2-year professional electrical training degree or bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Allen Bradley (AB) PLC control-level issue diagnosis using ladder logic and Control View HMI. At least 2 years of experience with AutoCAD for control layout design and schematics Proficiency in AB PLC processors (CompactLogix and ControlLogix preferred) and input/output modules. Familiarity with non-AB control systems including Siemens and Mitsubishi . Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot various control components, including photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders. Familiarity with PLC programs and adeptness at troubleshooting ladder logic, CPU back plains, I/O boards, counters, modules, devices, and communications modules (Ethernet). Capability to execute assigned project tasks. Strong reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in interpreting and modifying mechanical and electrical drawings. Competency in utilizing SCADA systems and KPIs. Ability to provide training to colleagues with lesser skills. Accessibility to all levels and areas of the facility. Interpretation and application of policies and procedures. Project management experience. Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office. Customer service orientation.
