NBC Universal Analyst, Deferred Revenue Accounting & Reporting in Orlando, Florida

JOB SUMMARY:
General job purpose is to ensure accuracy of financial results (accounting function) and financial reporting submissions to NBCU and Comcast (reporting function). This includes providing analytical, data mining and reporting functions for Financial Reporting. Additional aspect of job includes ensuring department deadlines are met and company policies are adhered to as well as identifying departmental process improvements and automation procedures for reporting process. Candidate must participate in financial reviews with executive leadership.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the overall deferred revenue accounting function by understanding all of the UO deferred revenue ticket types and the various IT systems which support the reporting and recognition of revenue. Ensure supporting deferred revenue reports agree to the source ticketing systems and that revenue is being recognized in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Partner with various UO divisions including Finance, Product Planning, and IT and be actively involved in any setup, changes or modification of ticket types ensuring the product flows appropriately through BOH accounting systems and ultimately recognized to the general ledger in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
Streamline BOH financial processes to establish clarity and transparency, provide increased accuracy and efficiency, and reduce time-intensive and repetitive tasks utilizing SQL, VBA, Excel
Assist with the month-end close process of deferred revenue including preparation and analysis of deferred revenue schedules and posting of month end journal entries in SAP.
Assist with accurately forecasting future deferred revenue balances and breakage results.
Create and execute automation and data mining requests utilizing Microsoft Access and Excel
Assist Senior Financial Analyst and Director Finance with various ad hoc projects.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
EXPERIENCE:
3+ years’ experience in an analytical environment; including experience with accounting, IT audit concepts and/or data analysis
; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
