Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Manager provides leadership and directs strategy for the maintenance efforts in support of the facility campus.Manages direct reports, RFM Contracts and outside contractors for all aspects of maintenance.This position is responsible for improving asset utilization and uptime by implementing proven professional maintenance and reliability improvement processes. The Facilities Maintenance Manager develops and maintains preventive/predictive maintenance programs inclusive of failure and root cause analysis for the facility campus.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Ensures compliance with all maintenance company policies and procedures

  • Manages the facilities maintenance team including hiring, supervising, professional development and offering continuous educational opportunities on technical advancements, automation and controls

  • Manages third-party contractors along with company contractor management program

  • Ensures all equipment, building and grounds are maintained and operational up to company standards including landscaping, snow removal, fire suppression, fire alarms, heating systems, plumbing, HVAC, ammonia, Automated Storage Retrieval System (if applicable), etc.

  • Ensures the safety needs are given a top priority (i.e., Arc Flash/electrical safety, confined space entry, hazardous materials, hand tool safe use, etc.) and supports Lock Out Tag Out execution

  • Ensures responsive and proactive maintenance support to all facility campus customers

  • Ensures service calls and machinery repairs are completed in a timely manner

  • Responsible for facility campus budgeting, including all Maintenance and Repair cost centers, building, parts, outside services, and departmental labor

  • Manages facility campus-wide capital projects

  • Seeks methods to reduce utility consumption

  • Assists and supports mechanics with machine troubleshooting and technical expertise

  • Champions and drives reduction of losses through breakdown analysis and other appropriate continuous improvement tools

  • Oversees all parts acquisition activities. Maintains a compliant stockroom operation that provides repair parts for critical process equipment as well as necessary consumables for the plant

  • Participates in and supports the Environment Health, Safety (EHS) Program as well as weekly safety meetings, shop safety inspections, enforcement of lock-out/tag-out program and all other Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations

  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of technical, mechanical, maintenance or engineering experience. OR a high school diploma/GED with at least 8 years of technical mechanical, maintenance, or engineering experience

  • Four years of supervisory experience

  • Working knowledge of Automation and Controls Systems

  • Facility/campus maintenance experience

  • Experience with ammonia process safety management

  • Experienced in boiler operations and their maintenance and repair

  • Experienced with HVAC and fire protection systems and their maintenance and repair

  • Working knowledge of air compressors, cooling tower operations and plumbing

  • Working knowledge of high voltage and low voltage electrical systems

  • Working knowledge in wastewater operations and maintenance (if applicable)

  • ISO or other management system experience

  • Experience managing Third-party contractors

  • Budgeting and capital planning experience

  • Project management experience

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field

  • Computerized Maintenance Management System experience

  • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma

  • Working knowledge of national, state, and local regulatory requirements in the areas of food safety, safety, environment, and emergency management

  • Working knowledge of basic elements of Good Manufacturing Practices in a manufacturing environment
