Jacobs Construction Inspector in Ottawa, Ontario

We are searching for a Construction Inspector to join our Ottawa construction team to support in delivering municipal water/wastewater distribution and treatment plant projects. We are looking for candidates who are available on an as-needed basis. Join our team and work alongside our technical experts to assist in delivering high-quality projects to our clients.

Some of your key tasks will include that you:

  • Monitor on-site construction activities to verify that the quality of materials and workmanship is in accordance with the Contract Documents.

  • Report quality concerns and issues with the Jacobs team, including the Contract Administrator, Project Manager, and/or Engineer(s) of Record as required. Work directly with the team to develop solutions for complex technical issues.

  • Prepare, submit, and maintain daily records of work activities at the job site(s) (e.g. inspection reports, construction photographs).

  • Interface with the client as required to provide them necessary project updates.

  • Participate in ongoing construction and commissioning meetings with project stakeholders.

You will be working mainly from construction sites in the National Capital Region, while occasionally being required to visit construction sites within 200 km of Ottawa.

  • Working knowledge of construction inspection requirements for industrial systems. Experience in water/wastewater, process manufacturing, and/or oil/gas would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of construction practices, principles, and relevant codes (e.g. plumbing code, electrical code, building code)

  • Proficient in Windows based software (incl. word, excel, outlook)

  • Intermediate mathematical skills to perform field calculations.

  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas.

  • Excellent communication skills, time management, and organizational skills

Additional assets include:

  • College education in a technical field or equivalent work experience.

  • Background in either mechanical or electrical technical field would be an asset.

  • Knowledge of construction practices

  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base.

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Ability to take ownership and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.

The base salary range for this position is $68,500 to $89,850. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across Ontario, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
