Summary

The Procurement Department’s mission is to create value through its strategic role of providing best-in- class sourcing solutions while improving Bell’s EBITDA and overall financial performance. The team’s primary focus is to significantly reduce the cost of doing business for Bell Canada to align with corporate priorities, objectives and internal customers needs through increased operational efficiency and productivity. This portfolio is considered a key enabler to meet business requirements.

We are currently seeking a Director, Procurement who will be accountable for leading sourcing strategies, developing supplier relationship management plans, and handling all contract management activities, such as renewals, terminations, extended warranties, and RFx processes. In addition to these responsibilities, the successful candidate will also take full accountability for supplier commercial negotiations, including drafting negotiations and execution of commercial agreements in compliance with Bell Legal and Procurements best practices and policies, with a focus on efficiency, supplier diversity and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Services, the Director’s primary responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop, support and execute the sourcing strategy in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders

  • Support special initiatives such as tail spend management and contractor management

  • Recommend, develop, coordinate and implement best practice processes and procedures to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of the work performed by Procurement

  • Identify and initiate productivity projects/improved cost efficiencies while actively searching for innovation ideas of all kinds within the supply base and leverage supplier diversity

  • Work collaboratively with the various business units to ensure that they are following proper business practices when purchasing goods and service

  • Oversee sourcing initiatives utilizing Bell systems in the distribution and management of RFI, RFQ and RFP

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with teams and leaders across the company, responding to their needs while balancing organizational priorities.

  • Demonstrate leadership and implement ideas that maximize performance and engagement of the procurement team

Critical Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in procurement

  • 5+ years of people management and Leadership experience coaching and mentoring team members

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management or related field

  • Proven experience in conducting comprehensive vendor analysis and screening, and using decision-making tools/models, including financial and non-financial criteria, to support negotiations of contract

  • Experience in sourcing program implementation, savings tracking, and compliance management

  • Ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with executives, coworkers, managers and clients.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent business and industry awareness, staying current on trends that impacts the business.

  • Ability to lead a team and effectively work in a team, as well as across teams in a highly matrixed environment.

  • Experience in a complex, issue-driven organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Bell Canada’s SAP and Ariba systems

  • Familiarity with spend analysis techniques

  • Understanding of Bell Canada’s business units and management structure

  • Understanding and expertise in data manipulation, sorting and analysis tools (Excel, SAP, Ariba, Ivalua, etc.) is a strong asset

  • Bilingualism is an asset (English and French);
