The Marketing team is seeking an Events & Partnerships Marketing Manager. You will be a part of the team that leads the strategy and activation of partnerships and marketing-led events. Collaborating with other groups across the business, we aim to increase EDC’s brand awareness and familiarity among Canadian exporters, access market knowledge, develop relationships with strategic partners and contribute to EDC's business objectives.

As an Events & Partnerships Marketing Manager you will be responsible for the strategic direction, development, planning, execution, and evaluation of events and partnerships.

The successful candidate will work closely with the regional business teams, inclusive trade and cleantech teams to manage a portfolio of events and partnerships for specified sectors, markets and audiences. In collaboration with the events marketing agency, key partners and other groups across the organization, the Events & Partnerships Marketing Manager will be responsible for bringing marketing leadership and customer insights to the design and execution of events in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively consult with internal and external stakeholders to identify needs, gaps and select the opportunities that best contribute to corporate objectives.

  • In conjunction with the business teams, prioritize events and sponsorships based on objectives and allocated budgets and continuously monitor wish list, providing updates on changes to leadership for decision-making purposes.

  • Develop and implement sponsorship packages in collaboration with business teams and partners.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partner organizations.

  • Negotiate with partners to obtain best value for money, ensure proper documentation is in place to support purchases and promptly process invoices.

  • Develop and implement successful EDC-led or partnered events.

  • Execute and manage event logistics and deliverables in collaboration with agency partner.

  • Determine and advise on possible topics and suggest and secure speakers.

  • Continually monitor, analyze, and evaluate success, including scorecard and dashboard updates, data tracking, results reporting, to demonstrate impact and determine opportunities for improvement.

  • Leverage CRM to analyze leads and activities related to events and partnerships.

  • Write and edit customer-focused marketing content to be used in both virtual and in-person events communications (invitations, event registration pages etc.)

  • Support and collaborate on maintaining and evolving the Events Brand Activation page and the roll out of events material to the regions.

  • Provide advice and mentoring to junior marketing employees and students on best practices and protocols on partnership, sponsorship and event management.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and think strategically

  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills (external and/or internal)

  • Proven organizational, multi-tasking and project management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage events and partnerships end-to-end

  • Strong collaboration, networking and relationship management skills

  • Ability to produce and edit content for marketing material

Screening Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in business or communications or equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in event marketing or a marketing communications role

  • Experience in relationship management (preferably with industry and business organizations)

  • Experience with event logistics and project management

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written, verbal, presentation)

  • Solid knowledge of MS Office Software systems (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Assets

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)

  • Knowledge of EDC’s mandate and Canada’s trade ecosystem

  • Strong network and experience working with a variety of business and industry associations with a focus on international trade

Location:

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or any of our community hubs.

  • Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Salary Range:

  • Marketing Generalist 17: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $81,012- $108,017 plus a performance-based incentive.
