Team & Job Overview

The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

  • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.

  • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.

  • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.

  • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

The Senior Advisor, Technology Vendor Management (TVM) supports Delivery Families and Technology Teams working within the Digital Technology Solutions Group.

The Senior Advisor is responsible for supporting the team in overseeing, managing, and leveraging vendors to optimally achieve team outcomes and key results. They increase value through partnership and provide guidance and strategic advice to support the planning, sourcing, procurement, and performance management of EDC’s vendor relationships.

The objective of this role is to optimize EDC’s overall spend by examining current contracts and maximizing vendor performance; supporting operations within the team and meeting established OKRs; and reducing risk and increasing compliance to procurement standards.

The Senior Advisor acts as a trusted advisor within the organization identifying strategic partnership opportunities and an active contributing member of the TVM Community of Excellence, working collaboratively to share knowledge, best practices and ensure consistency and continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the financial management of vendor contracts, monitor and communicate the financial status (budget forecasts and actuals) to enable effective decisions.

  • Ensure vendors are delivering as per contracts, and that EDC is utilizing the service or product in compliance with the terms of the agreement (e.g., understanding and communicating license and access terms).

  • Manage the contract lifecycle including renewal check-ins and supporting the team as required on invoice approvals.

  • Build a strong partnership with our strategic vendors by establishing a collaborative relationship with clear communication and governance.

The following responsibilities will be undertaken by the TVM role in partnership with the Procurement team:

  • Work with the Technology Product Leads and Contract Owners to proactively identify sourcing needs, develop sourcing plans, and drive the end-to-end sourcing lifecycle required to meet team requirements for strategic and operational vendor agreements.

  • Support the team in navigating procurement processes, engaging business teams and their stakeholders to enable solutions, evaluating proposals, developing supplier governance models, and developing contingency plans and exit strategies.

  • Provide guidance to the team during contract negotiations on vendor SLAs, establish vendor governance, educate vendors on EDC policies and procedures, understand EDC security and collaboration tools available to external resources.

  • Develop, track, and report key metrics for vendor performance management as required.

  • Oversee defining/ revising, tracking key metrics/ KPIs to monitor vendor performance against the set targets and report up vendor performance across multiple parameters, such as quality, time, innovation, cost, user experience, value generated, and productivity.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration or equivalent combination of relevant discipline and experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial management and managing vendors in an outsourced/ managed services environment

  • Extensive experience in procurement, contracting, sourcing and/or vendor management

  • Experience working on a collaborative delivery teams

  • Proven strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills

  • Experience with systems such as ServiceNow, Peoplesoft Financials, Procure 2 Pay (P2P), and SharePoint

  • Proven ability in setting up measurement and reporting related to vendor engagements, manual and automated

  • Bilingual in both official languages (English and French)

Salary Range:

  • Vendor Management 18: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,355 - $123,140, plus performance-based incentive.

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.

  • This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from a Community Hub in Toronto/Mississauga, Montreal/Laval/Brossard, Calgary, Vancouver, or Halifax.
