Title: Grain/Feed Ingredient Procurement
Reports to: Procurement Manager
Position Summary: The primary focus of the Grain/Feed Ingredient Procurement role is to purchase all feed ingredients and grain for blended feed needs and ancillary commodity sales. This individual will assist with the supply chain and logistics of these goods, as well as product positions, to keep all facility’s inventories at optimal levels to fulfill our customer’s needs and uphold company quality standards. This individual will effectively communicate with the Procurement Manager to ensure they are up to date on market prices and positions.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Fulfill ingredient needs of all Location inventories to ensure all customer needs are met, including ancillary sales.
Work with the Procurement Manager to develop procurement strategies by commodity.
When applicable, identify and pursue ingredient sales opportunities.
Effectively negotiate with LNC suppliers, while maintaining excellent, long-term relationships with the supplier base.
Actively assess Risk within company commodity positions.
Maintain constant oversight of contracts and timely shipments with suppliers.
Work with locations to minimize demurrage costs and help identify potential shrink issues.
Work with the Reseller market to optimize LNC locations and positions.
Have thorough understanding of all logistical processes, including barge, rail, and truck logistics.
Understand and lead by example the Mission, Vision, and Values of Livestock Nutrition Center.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in commodity procurement/merchandising.
Must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
Must have excellent communication skills and provide superior customer service.
Strong negotiating skills.
Strong mathematical skills.
