Job Description

The Shipping Assistant is a contractor position that supports the daily operations of our factory dock. As a contractor, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, performing a combination of manual and clerical duties related to shipping. This role involves using computer systems for tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting, as well as following established shipping practices and procedures.

Contract Details

• Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a standard 30-minute unpaid lunch break, typically taken during the middle of the day.

• Contract term: 9-18 months.

• Contract may be terminated at any time based on business needs.

• Possibility of full-time employment opportunities based on successful performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials to be shipped, verifying quantity, weight, and conformance to stated identifications.

• Prepare materials for shipment, including packing and wrapping items as needed.

• Log receipt of items on system, process freight, packing sheets, and other documents.

• Perform routine, repetitive, and basic tasks where precedent, methods, and processes are well established.

Requirements

• Basic computer skills and knowledge, with ability to learn new systems and software.

• Attention to detail and ability to verify long part numbers, serial number, quantities and weights.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being part of a team.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift objects up to 39 pounds on a regular basis.

• Job requires standing for the majority of the shift, up to 8 hours per day.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent bending, lifting, and carrying.

• We prioritize the safety of our employees and require candidates who can work safely and efficiently in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels.

Supervision and Decision-Making

• Close supervision will be provided during the initial training period, with gradual increase in independence as skills and knowledge are demonstrated.

• Contractor will be expected to make simple decisions and refer more complex decisions to more experienced personnel.
