Role Summary

Directs a team of audit managers responsible for executing the audit plans for multiple departments and financial/business control activities. Develops functional strategy and operating plans. Develops changes and improvements to audit strategy and control policies and practices. Anticipates and provides solutions to the most complex business and operations problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for establishing and executing the annual audit plan and resource allocation across the area of coverage. Ensures managers follow, support, and communicate the established audit workflow. Partners with senior business unit leadership to understand the business strategies, validate the key risks and internal controls and determines how they apply to the upcoming audit projects.

  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with leaders across the areas of coverage. Participates with senior leaders in risk assessment and assists with the development of strategic objectives to mitigate risks. Provides progress reports and status updates to leadership and manages the most complex or sensitive projects. Plans and prepares presentations to internal committees, regulatory authorities, and other audiences as appropriate.

  • Works with leadership to devise strategies to strengthen the firm’s operational effectiveness and enhance the firm’s reputation with clients and regulatory authorities. Acts as the firm’s expert on current and emerging risks, and industry trends in order to craft policies and procedures that enable the firm to stay ahead of trends and regulatory requirements. Anticipates issues based on extensive knowledge of business trends and competitor practices and proposes direction and solutions.

  • Regularly interfaces with business unit leaders to communicate audit scope, outcomes, and recommendations to business unit leaders and senior management, which may often contain sensitive issues that must be tactfully navigated. Proactively identifies areas of improvement in business units and consultatively partners with business unit leaders to devise strategy to address them.

  • Recruits, directs, motivates, and develops a diverse team, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth, and their ability to build and sustain a high-performing, strategically focused workforce within their assigned department. Accountable for the financial and human resources of the department to including budgeting, staffing resources, etc.

    Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience AND

  • 12+ years of total relevant internal audit/risk work experience and 5+ years of managerial and people leadership experience

  • Demonstrated experience in managing a portfolio of audits, related oversight, and execution of multiple projects and evaluation of controls

  • Experience in managing integrated audits that address operation and technology/system risks

  • Demonstrated experience, skills, and knowledge of IIA professional practices and standards

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written/verbal) skills

Preferred

  • CPA or CIA Certification

  • Experience in implementing data analytics in audit workflow and practice

  • Experience in audit practices within financial services/asset management industry

    FINRA Requirements

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for remote work up to two days a week.
