THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for safely supporting and staffing the Oxford College pool for all events, including hiring, training, supervising, and scheduling of lifeguards; budget management; equipment inventory; administrative functions and observing and resolving risk management and safety issues.

  • Ensures that through staff recruitment and training, policy development and enforcement, supervision of ongoing maintenance, and that the pool is operated in a safe and compliant manner.

  • Interviews, hires, and manages lifeguards needed to cover all open pool times at Oxford College including, but not limited to credit bearing classes, events, programs, and summer programs.

  • Provides and assesses lifeguard performance through in-service training as well as unannounced safety drills.

  • Provides general customer service and assists with signage, schedule, and website updating for all aquatic programs.

  • Assists with the planning and implementation of special events (swim team practices and meets, campus, summer program, etc.).

  • Plans, organizes, schedules, and coordinates summer swim lesson programs.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree with equivalent training and certifications.

  • Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Water Safety Instructor certified.

  • Current CPR/AED Certification.

  • Current Lifeguard Instructor Certification.

  • Pool Operator/Aquatic Facility Operator Certification preferred.

  • Experience with pool management in an academic setting desirable.

NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
